Many Years to...Metropolitan JONAH of All America and Canada!

All I can say is...wow. Looks like Vladyka will have to find another auxiliary, 'cause the recently-consecrated one is now the presiding bishop of his synod...

Many years to our newly-elected Metropolitan! Axios!

Anonymous: Whoever you are, posting this bit of trash all over the web, folks should be aware that Metr. JONAH did not write it. It's a bitter parody of a piece he really did write.

Fr. Andrew,

Thank you for posting the Metr.-Elect's article. I have deleted the parody that our anonymous coward left.

David you said he is a presiding bishop to 'his synod' in ref to Vladyka doesn't that mean he is just the same bishop. Or is one bishop of a jurisdiction to be the dominant leader to make changes for their church?

Bobby,

Thanks for commenting. It should be said that different synods function differently. His Beatitude JONAH serves as a sort of "president of the board" with regards to the synod, so he basically directs synodal meetings (what will be discussed, voted on, etc). He cannot, however, come into Archbishop DMITRI's diocese and attempt to run anything unless Abp. DMITRI expressly asks him or permits him to. In the end, Met. JONAH is no more nor less a bishop than any other member of the Holy Synod, but his leadership "sets the tone," as it were, for the overall direction the OCA will take. It is for this reason that we are glad to have him where he is; former Metropolitans seemed to have wanted to steer away from problematic areas in the past; he's looking to steer us towards them so that they can be exposed and healed. God grant him mercy.
