Prayers

UPDATE: There is an offer -- the price is reasonable, but they want help w/closing costs, which would make our end of it be too much. Counteroffer is the same price, w/them paying closing costs. Continued prayers appreciated.

May God's will be done.

Btw, Rachel will be at Church School today, which I don't think we alerted Audra to. She can just join your class if that's okay.

Dear David,

I've been reading your blog for the last couple of days. I, like yourself, hail from the land of Protestant Evangelicalism having been in the Reformed Camp the longest. However, for the past few years I've been being drawn to the ancient faith, that which I now know is the Orthodox Church.

I read the eternal security thread on your blog from Feb 2008 in its entirety last night - didn't finish till 2:30 a.m. The patience, long-suffering, kindness, humility, and compassion both you and momesansnom displayed towards Rhology (the Reformed guy) was truly refreshing! As I read yours and other Orthodox folk refuting OSAS, I was filled with such joy. I have known for some time that this doctrine is unbiblical and misleading, but the Orthodox explanations made everything come into place for me.

I cannot tell you in mere words what a sense of release I felt as I lay my head upon the pillow last evening. I knew that I knew I must become Orthodox. Up until this point, I have been voraciously reading all that I can, but now I must take action. Tomorrow I will attend Divine Liturgy at an OCA parish.

May our Lord Jesus Christ bless you in finding a home where you can raise your children and enjoy family life as a "little parish." When my husband and I were searching for a home, we also did not have the money for closing costs. The Lord in His kindess blessed us through a man who lent us the money. We didn't even ask him. He knew of our situation and offered and said we could pay him back when we were able.

Jesus Christ opens doors and makes a way when there seems not to be one. I will be praying for you and yours.

In Christ's Immeasureable Love,

Darlene

Darlene,

Your comment -- really, the choice you've made which is reflected in your comment -- is what makes this blog a worthwhile effort. Glory be to God that you are seeking His true Body, His Church, out of love for Him and a desire to know Him -- and not just about Him -- rightly.

I pray you had a blessed Pentecost at the OCA parish. May the Comforter bless you as He forms Christ in you, to the glory of God the Father.

Dear David,

I attended Divine Liturgy for the first time today. How peaceful and reverent it truly was. No need to pick apart a pastor's sermon to assess whether he made all the necessary points from Scripture. No need to listen to a musical performance that focuses on the accomplishments of the entertainer/s.

There was a rhythm to the Liturgy in which I felt drawn in as a participant, unworthy as I am. When my husband inquired about my experience, I replied, "It was other-worldly." Truly, I felt as though I was sitting in heavenly places with the Blessed Triune God.

Hitherto, I had never heard worship that praises and glorifies the Holy Trinity. Such worship lifted me above the ordinary to the extraordinary. The Lord God allowed me the privelege to share in the mystery of our most holy faith.

I am praying for your situation. May our God bless you with an abode where the joy of the Lord is present, even in the midst of struggles and trials.

In Christ's Immeasurable Love,

Darlene
