Why the South Seceded

One of the best speeches I have ever read on why the southern states seceded from the Union in 1861. It was delivered by the Hon. John H. Reagan, the last surviving member of the Confederate States Cabinet. Even better, it was delivered right here in Ft. Worth, TX!

That is an awesome talk. Thank you very much for sharing it!

Have you ever read "The Real Lincoln"? A great book that ably documents all the changes "King Abe" made to our republic at the start of the American Empire.

nice read, thanks. although, the notion that jealousy and political posturing was at the root of the ferment belies the fact that their response was an act of war. however, there are so many variables that one could contend that the economic actions were no less an act of aggression. anyway, intersting topic, but not so timely due to fact that my Jacksonian history class is over and it is time for this kid to move onto the Moyen-Orient.

oh, and as for the FOTF post on my blog (which i thank you for your comments -- i just stumbled upon another one you left. please accept this humble apology for my tardiness) you can find that information on the actual FOTF website. I think it's under the topic of keeping your kids hetero (if you can believe that).

take care...
