Just you watch. Bush will appoint Gonzalez (who will get approved) as the Supreme Court Justice to replace O'Conner. And now that Rhenquist is likely leaving soon (due to health or otherwise), I'd put money on a second non-pro-life-hardliner.
As you can see from the last post, I'm not fond of Bush's foreign (or domestic, really) policy. But this--the first (perhaps only?) real chance we have to overturn Roe v. Wade--was the one area he could have made himself "worth it" to me. And he ain't gonna do it. Didn't think he would, really, but it's still infuriating to watch him do this.

It's unclear to me as well why so many people seem to consider President Bush as such a great moral force and strong leader. Given the opportunity before him, his political position and the fact that he was JUST re-elected, he is in a great place. Yet he'll screw around and in the end, I'm not even sure he'll do what it takes to push his nominations for the Sup Ct thru. Wouldn't surprise me if he left at least one empty post for the next President.
Amen, all. Especially David. We've lost all sense of fidelity to issue for the sake of fidelity to candidate or (even worse!) fidelity to party.

Ahh BP...it's always nice to see a shared political view...i'm a loner amongst my family (not immediate family)...they seem loyal to anyone who says God and Jesus. While that is a great personal temptation i have fought against, they seem lulled by any sort of god-talk coming from the powerful. "War? Well, yes sir, he believes in Jesus!"
Well, we were wrong. Looks like Mr B's minders are paying back/giving a sop to the red-staters who voted for them.
